Everyday Comfort, Great TV, and Strawberry Cake: What’s Making Me Smile Lately

The other day, some friends were sharing a common gripe: their everyday underwear just doesn’t make them feel sexy. It’s such a relatable dilemma, right? I was quick to jump in with my go-to solution — Oddobody’s organic cotton underwear. Out of all their styles, I’m a devoted fan of the string bikini. It somehow strikes that magical balance between flirty and comfy — a combo that’s surprisingly rare to find. What about you? What’s your underwear pick that keeps you feeling confident and cozy? — Joanna

The Pitt: A Medical Drama That Hits Home

On the TV front, my husband and I have been engrossed in The Pitt, a gripping series set in an under-resourced ER in Pittsburgh. It’s rare that a medical drama grabs me this deeply — the last time I was this hooked was back in college, binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy box sets.

Here’s the twist: each episode covers just one hour of a grueling 15-hour shift. We’re currently eleven hours deep into this tense ride, with four episodes left. The level of stress and urgency these doctors and nurses face is unimaginable. It makes me feel frazzled just handling my kids’ questions while trying to cook dinner, so I can’t fathom being a medical student, scalpel in hand, having to explain every decision on the fly.

To savor the intensity, we’re pacing ourselves with one episode per night. It’s a challenge because the tension doesn’t let up — but it’s also why we can’t look away. — Kaitlyn

Strawberry Cake Season Is Coming!

There’s a very special time of year fast approaching that I’m downright obsessed with: strawberry cake season. Anton and I have already rolled up our sleeves, fully ready to dive in and bake to our hearts’ content. There’s something about the sweetness and freshness of strawberry cake that just screams spring and early summer to me. Have you baked anything delicious lately? I’d love to hear about your kitchen triumphs! — Joanna

A Fun Night Out With Adam Roberts

Speaking of delicious things, I’m thrilled to share that my good friend Adam Roberts — cookbook author, proud dog dad, and a veteran host of at least 50 dinner parties a year — is releasing his first novel Food Person next week. It’s a hilarious look at the life of a cookbook ghostwriter, and if you love food and funny stories, this one’s for you.

We’ll be chatting on stage about the book, writing, low-stress entertaining, New York City’s restaurant scene, marriage, and pretty much everything in between. I always say Adam reminds me of a modern-day Nora Ephron — so expect plenty of laughs. If you’re around Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 20th, please come join us! Free tickets are available here. — Joanna

A Little Extra

P.S. I also stumbled upon a podcast recently that made me laugh out loud — right in Trader Joe’s, no less. Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference, don’t they?

Note: Some links I share might earn me a small commission or reflect a sponsored partnership, but I only recommend products and events I truly love and believe you will too. Thanks so much for your support!

Whether it’s feeling great from the inside out, binge-watching a show that pulls you in, or baking something delicious, I hope you find your own little joys this week. And hey — if you have any recommendations, especially for shows or recipes, please send them my way!
